Bullies, Cowards, and the DNC.
Wisconsin is in turmoil this week, and is taking on an Egyptian appearance, with tens of thousands of unionized state workers protesting outside of the capital in Madison. They are protesting because the newly elected Governor and Republican controlled state legislature is trying to find $3.5 Billion in cuts to balance a state budget that was run into the red by the previous administrations. The bill causing the turmoil will require state workers and teachers in Wisconsin to contribute to their pension funds and healthcare insurance for the first time. It also takes away their collective bargaining rights after years of abuse by the union leaders. In exchange for these concessions, No state workers or teachers would be laid off, and there would be no furloughs.
The people involved in these protests can all be placed into three groups: The bullies, the Cowards, and the DNC.
- The Bullies:
The Bullies are the union leaders, who have failed to do their job,and will not negotiate in good faith for their members. If this bill does not go through, Governor Walker has stated that he will be forced to lay off upwards of 5,000 state workers.Which state worker would you rather be? The one who gets to keep his job, and continue to pay nothing for your pension and health insurance, while the rest of America pays between 10 and 30% of their salary for these priveledges. Or would you like to be one of the lucky 5,000 who will lose their job?
The below video I obtained via The lonely Conservative. It shows the cluelessness of the Wisconsin protesters
The unions have also brought in the big Guns. Richard Trumka, the leader of the AFL-CIO is in Madison today, trying to turn these protestors into a mob. Mr. Trumka is not new to protests. He was sued after a worker was shot in the head and killed at a strike that he was running. Trumka and his other union buddies, settled the case, and moved on to their next victims. Richard Trumka is an old school union thug, who does whatever he wants to, regardless of the legality of his actions.
- The Cowards:
The Cowards in this situation are the 14 democratic state Senators who have fled Wisconsin, in violation of their constitutional duty, in a last ditch effort to prevent a vote on the bill. There are 19 Republicans in the state Senate and you need 20 Senators for a quorum in the Senate. The Democrats fled to a Best Western in the state of Illinois, so that there cannot be a vote on the bill. So much for democracy. This is a prime example of the hypocrisy of the democrats. When Obama won the 2010 election, he told republicans that "Elections have consequences." Now that the reupublicans have the power in a lot of the states, the democrats want to deny them of the power that they have earned as a result of the November elections. The Wisconsin democrats have decided that they do not wish to participate in a democracy, so long as it is a Republican-led democracy. These Senators should immediately have their pay suspended for neglecting their duties, and the State Senate should look into the possibility of impeachment proceedings against them if they continue to deny the people of Wisconsin the democracy that they have voted for.
- The DNC:
In the last couple of days it has been revealed that the DNC, and it's political partners, have dispatched it's operatives to Wisconsin to help the unions in their efforts to Deny the people of the due process that they have voted for. President Obama Has given his support to the unions, who have supported him throughout his presidency. He accused Governer Walker of committing "assault on the unions." President Obama needs to recognize that this is a state issue, and the federal government has no business getting involved. Unlike President Obama, Governor Walker is actually attempting to get his budget under control, and in balance.
The Governor of Wisconsin cannot allow the unions to bully and threaten him and the state of Wisconsin, into submission. Wisconsin is only one of many states that are facing the same budget crisis. NY, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, and California are but a few of the states who will be looking at the same types of cuts. If the unions prevail in their tactics, do you really believe that any state will stand a chance to make meaningful budgetary cuts to save themselves from going into bankruptcy, or enacting double-digit tax increases on the people. The average salary of a Wisconsin teacher is over $52000 per year. Their pension and health insurance plans are some of the best in the country, and yet they are unwilling to make the sacrifices that so many of us have already had to make in the last couple of years. It is time that the unions start to give a little back to the people who pay them their ever-increasing salaries, while ours are decreasing.
